Each pitcher learned a valuable lesson on Tuesday night. Kennedy was masterful in his first start this season at AAA, taking a no hitter through five and only allowing 1 hit in 7 1/3 innings while striking out 8. It was dominating performance, and it would seem as though he has accepted the challenge given to him by being sent down. More importantly than the lack of hits he gave up and the strikeouts was the fact that he didn’t walk anyone. It would seem he has learned what it takes for him to be successful and is back to his old self.
Joba also learned a valuable lesson as well. He shook of his catcher Molina time and time again in the 8th inning, wanting to rely on his curve instead of his fastball… which was reaching 98 and was working for him. The result? Two walks followed by a three run home run, blowing the game for the Yanks. Joba is young, and he needs to learn to trust the guy behind the plate. Molina saw the hitters all game and had a feel for where and how to pitch them that night. I think Joba learned… unfortunately for us it came the hard way.
I don’t have much to say about yesterday’s game. Good outing from Wang. If we want to win, we have to score runs. It’s that simple. A-Rod cannot come back soon enough. Looks like Krazy Kyle might have turned the corner, and I for one could not be happier. We need him to come up big for us this year.
