Today is also Polish Independence Day!
On November 11, 1918 the nation of Poland was re-established 123 years after it was dissolved. In 1795 Russia, Prussia, and Austria divided the Polish Kingdom between them, erasing an independent Poland from the map. Following the defeat of Prussia and Austria in World War Oneand the collapse of the Russian monarchy, the Allies established the Second Polish Republic – making Poland an independent nation again.
